Intertek Hi-Cad Dimensional Control: Designed to fit first time... every time.

Intertek Hi-Cad Dimensional Control and monitoring can be effectively implemented in a number of critical areas both onshore and offshore in order to provide substantial benefits to any project. Hi-Cad has developed a software package called DIMES (Data Integrated Management Engineering System). DIMES ensures ‘Clash-Free’ design and installation and has been employed within the following categories:

• Existing Status Surveys: Survey of current facilities and exported to 3D model
• Ship Repair / Ship Building: Hull alignment surveys
• Fabrication Surveys: Steelwork and pipework surveys
• Alignment Surveys: Surveys involving alignment of towers, platforms
• Specialist Equipment Surveys: Survey of drilling equipment, production lines
• Clash Surveys: Replacement of components or installation of new equipment

The field data is gathered utilizing an Electronic Total Station capable of measuring distances to +/- 1mm (1/24”) accuracy. The ETM can be tripod mounted or attached to any structural element within the facility in any configuration allowing easy movement through even the most congested of areas without loss of accuracy. In addition to the information we gather via the Total Station we can also capture and merge field data using our survey grade GPS units.   The data collected from each survey is imported into DIMES where intelligent tagging is used to identify each element of the survey, which at a later stage is utilized for semi-automatic drawing routines.  One of the main benefits in adopting Hi-Cad DIMES is the eradication of all on-site hot work (welding, grinding etc), which ensures that the associated safety risks to personnel are minimized. In addition to the elimination of dangerous processes there is a major reduction of on-site materials handling.
