Foodstuffs like rice, cereal, pasta but also deep-frozen food are very often boxed in cardboardmade of recycled paper. More and more these packaging are getting the attractionof the public due to their potential hazard to the consumer’s health.

Findings of investigations by the Swiss canton laboratory in Zurich showed that this kindof cardboard may contain significant amount of mineral oils coming from the printing inks of recycled newspapers. These substances (MOSH – mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons and MOAH – mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons) have the capability to migrate from the packaging onto the foodstuffs finding their way via consumption into the human body.
This seminar gives you the opportunity to learn from the experts about their views on the impact of mineral oil on product and in the end on consumer safety. The different parts of this seminar provide an insight into the corresponding scientific background, the most appropriate analytical methods, a toxicological view and the impact on food packaging producers.
