Description: This e-learning course enables your company to meet the requirements of the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), 29 CFR 1910.1200. This standard, adopted by OSHA, aligns with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) developed by the United Nations to provide globally consistent criteria for the classification and labeling of hazardous chemicals.

In order to ensure chemical safety in the workplace, information about the identities and hazards of the chemicals must be available and understandable to workers.

Major changes to the Hazard Communication Standard:

  • Hazard classification: Provides specific criteria for classification of health and physical hazards, as well as classification of mixtures.
  • Labels: Chemical manufacturers and importers will be required to provide a label that includes a harmonized signal word, pictogram, and hazard statement for each hazard class and category. Precautionary statements must also be provided.
  • Safety Data Sheets: Will now have a specified 16-section format.

Intertek’s GHS e-learning course will enable you to educate your employees on these changes and prepare them for when these new SDSs and Hazard Pictograms are implemented.
