Jackie Foster, B.Tech., Regulatory Specialist
Ms. Foster joined the Chemicals Group as a Regulatory Specialist in 2008 and holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Industrial Engineering from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. She brings more than 18 years of experience in occupational health and safety and regulatory compliance and a keen insight into the regulatory needs of industry to the Chemicals Group. Prior to joining Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy (formerly Cantox), Ms. Foster guided the compliance efforts of several companies before becoming involved in the management of both quality and environmental management systems. This involvement has provided Ms. Foster with the skills necessary to audit processes, identify areas of weakness, suggest solutions and monitor the implementation of those solutions.
Since joining Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy, Ms. Foster has assisted clients in their compliance efforts surrounding new substance notifications in Canada and Australia, product classification for WHMIS, CCCR and CLP, the preparation of trade secret applications allowed under the Hazardous Materials Information Review Act (HMIRA), exposure/risk assessments, MSDS and label generation, product compliance audits and the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) initiatives.
Ms. Foster’s involvement in the Canadian Association of Chemical Distributors (CACD) Regulatory Affairs Committee enables her to keep abreast of changes to chemical control legislation. Her understanding of industry operations and supply chain relationships allows her to identify how these changes may impact client’s business operations in Canada.
With her background in Industrial Engineering, in combination with her industry and association experience, Ms. Foster is able to help her clients effectively identify regulatory challenges and assist in determining a realistic strategy to resolve them. Ms. Foster is able to use her thorough understanding of the supply chain, from manufacture to end-use, to guide clients through the regulatory framework for new and existing chemical products in Canada.
