Intertek’s Quality & Performance Mark instills confidence in customers that your mattress and bedding performance claims are true

The combination of a lack of industry standards and no pass fail criteria for mattresses and bedding leads many to ask – What is a quality mattress? Compliance with durability requirements, along with functionality and workmanship are the criteria that distinguish mattresses and bedding products from one another. While there are many claims made about the quality and safety of mattresses and bedding, these should always come with 3rd party verification to ensure the validity and accreditation of such claims.

To qualify for the QPM Mark, manufacturers must complete a comprehensive evaluation of the mattress/bedding product to a specific set of measurable attributes, in addition to a unique individual product manufacturer claim validation.

  • Durability: The product must meet the applicable ASTM F1566, EN 1957, and EN 1725 standards
  • Functionality: Assess performance of a product’s functional characteristics under normal use, including its firmness rating
  • Workmanship/Finishing: Visual inspection
  • National Deviations: Review for markets outside of North America Marketing Claims
  • Marketing Claims: Review of any manufacturer statements and 3rd party verification of any certification or other claim to ensure validity and accreditation. (ex. CertiPur and Environmental Product Declarations)

Once completed, Intertek will work with you to promote the certification and to highlight your product’s performance on such mediums as the web, marketing literature, product packaging and advertising.
