Reservoir Souring
Reservoir souring predictive studies and consulting.
Intertek helps oil and gas clients optimize reservoir production and mitigate potential problems involving sour, corrosive environments. Sour hydrogen sulfide (di-hydrogen monosulfide, H2S) containing reservoir environments can cause cracking in metals and metal fatigue problems. The life-time of polymer materials can be reduced from sour environments. Corrosive sulfide species can diffuse through coatings and plastic liners to attack materials not in direct contact with process fluids.
Intertek sour service and corrosion-fatigue testing facilities are used by oil & gas exploration and production companies, materials suppliers, and flexible pipe manufacturers, for research and evaluation of materials properties and materials qualification for onshore and offshore developments. Sour environmental tests are performed to a large number of industry standards including ISO 15156, EFC 16, EFC 17, NACE standards TM 0177, TM 0284 & TM 0296, API 17J and 17 K. High-pressure, high-temperature service environments can be simulated.
Intertek consultants provide expertise in materials selection for sour service, for example in front-end engineering design, or for upgrades and replacement projects. Years of experience focused on the upstream exploration and production sectors give clients the tools to optimize production and mitigate potential issues associated with sour reservoir oil and gas exploration and production.
