Intertek CAPCIS instrument systems are designed to provide operations staff with real time knowledge of the corrosion of their pipelines and systems with options for integration into DCS systems. When applied to sour gas lines, the Concerto systems can allow the detection of wet gas and slug flow conditions and demonstrate the corrosion impact.

CAPCIS’s downhole corrosion monitoring tool can be deployed via wireline to give a real time data: 

• Downhole general corrosion rate
• Process parameters which have the most significant effect on corrosion activity
• Whether corrosion activity is general or localised

For downhole applications, the CAPCIS downhole corrosion monitoring tool is unlike any other tool used in the industry. It supplies an instant rate of general corrosion and also indication of localised corrosion occurring at different depths, allowing remaining life calculations. Corrosion rate measurements allow assessment of changes in well corrosion, and hence can be used to assess the effectivness and persistence of corrosion inhibitor, of changes associated with different depth and temperature in the well). This enables that the suitability of an inhibitor or the optimum inhibitor concentration to be determined downhole. 

Concerto corrosion monitoring equipment allows for significant enhancement of data acquisition and analysis. Concerto corrosion monitoring products offer the ability to upgrade standard measurements available from routine instruments, with a plug compatible product that works with all standard linear polarization resistance (LPR) probes. The Concerto systems are used as part of chemical and inhibitor management processes with the measurements providing confirmation of the inhibitor performance and highlighting excursions outside the normal operating environment.

Using industry standard LPR probes, the Concerto systems allow a range of standard and advance electrochemical measurements to be applied on site. As well as traditional linear polarization measurements, other options include solution resistance compensation, electrochemical noise and potential measurements. Specially designed software allows data acquisition, data reduction and summary, optimized for input to DCS systems.
