Overview
Toys are one of the most wide ranging categories of consumer products encompassing everything from small soft filled toys to complex radio controlled electrical items to multi-activity climbing frames and swing combinations. Understandably they are one of the most closely controlled product groups in terms of safety.

The safety of toys within Europe is governed by the Toy Safety Directive, which lays down the legal requirements covering the safety of toys, their labelling and the obligations on manufacturers, importers and retailers. The directive is supported by various standards, which detail the specific requirements in terms of mechanical and electrical safety, flammability and chemical hazards. |

This seminar will consider what products are covered by this directive and the role of standards in the context of the Toy Directive. An overview will be given of the requirements of the standards as well as considering other standards that may be relevant to certain types of toys.

Samples will be available to illustrate various points along with test equipment and a tour of our facilities.
