Intertek Speaks at the Joint Technical Seminar Hosted by the Malaysian Timber Council

As the timber industry of Malaysia strives to remain competitive in these challenging times, more product regulations and technical requirements have been put into place by importing countries. Regulations like CARB, CPSIA, as well as REACH, are just some examples which have contributed to a significant increase in costs as certification and auditing fees will have to be borne by the industry. In addition to increasing costs and fees, the auditing and certification processes are also challenging.

The Technical Seminar jointly organized by Intertek and the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) on regulatory updates in the US and EU came by the right time. Intertek shared its all-round expertise and experience with industry representatives to assist them in navigating the complex requirements of the CARB, CPSIA, and REACH, yet at the same time offering cost-saving solutions in helping them comply with the regulations. The seminar, which was held at MTC office at Kuala Lumpur on July 29, attracted around 50 participants from the Malaysian timber industry.
