Intertek Thailand and TISI Continue to Promote REACH in 2010

Intertek Consumers Goods Thailand and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) have partnered again this year to educate Thai exporters and manufacturers on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), the EU regulatory system that oversees the manufacture, import, marketing and use of chemicals. Intertek and TISI will offer three one-day REACH Seminar & Workshop sessions throughout May and June in the Chiangmai, Bangkok and Chonburi provinces.

The workshop session will help participants gain a clearer understanding of the REACH requirements and how to achieve compliance.  Topics and dates for this year’s seminars are as follows:  

• Ceramicware, Toys, Electronic and Electrical ( May 7 in Chiangmai) 
• Plastic, Rubber and Steel Products (June 2 in Bangkok)
• Automotive Industry (June 18 in Chonburi)

Nearly 130 participants attended the May workshop in Chiangmai, which featured the following presenters:

• Ms. Krissana Petcharoen: Standards Officer, International Affairs Bureau – Thai Industrial Standards Institute
• Ms. Phanit Hitapong: Division Manager; Toys & Hardlines Division – Intertek Testing Services (Thailand) Ltd.
• Ms. Wilawan Sriphrom: Assistant Technical Manager; Toys & Hardlines Division – Intertek Testing Services (Thailand) Ltd.

Intertek and TISI also received additional support from the Science and Technology Services Center, Faculty of Science at Chiangmai University.
