Forum: Your Key to Business Success in the Chinese Market
(Special for oversea attendees)
Quality Surveillance Systems and Solutions for Brands to Meet Chinese Quality Standards with Ease
Boosted by the robust buying power of over 1.36 billion consumers, China maintained an 8.7% GDP growth in 2009. The region’s rapidly rising consumer demand and active market dynamics forms a sharp contrast to the current global economic crisis. Just in the same year, statistics from the World Luxury Association show that Chinese consumers have accounted for almost a quarter of global luxury goods purchases -- making it the world’s second largest market for luxury goods behind Japan. The prime business opportunities and potential growth of the Chinese market attract more and more international brands surging into Asia. However, there are still fair shares of challenges from the increasingly improved living philosophy in China. At times, brands may unfortunately stumble over quality issues and pay lofty penalty fees. Even worse, some may be cast in a negative light due to unfavorable media exposure. Furthermore, the upcoming Compulsory Entry-Exit Commodity Catalogue for CIQ's implementation on inspection and quarantine was earlier adjusted by AQSIQ’s Announcement No. 144 (2008). The adjustment led to the addition of 357 commodities, which will have significant impact on textile brands already struggling in China, or those planning to embark into the Chinese market.
How can companies cope with China’s policy on commodity quality and consumer protection? How can they effectively meet domestic consumer expectations? This forum will address these as some of the toughest questions that international brands face in their pursuit of success in China. Intertek has the honor to invite the General Manager of Intertek CDMS (China Domestic Market Service), brand representatives, officials from the China Association of Consumer Protection, and the Bureau of China Inspection and Quarantine as the speaker, to provide an overview of China’s micro-economy and market tactics, mandatory quality requirements, market surveillance systems and entry-exit goods inspection procedures. With our global vision, combined with a vast local network of experts, Intertek offers a practical and systematic approach to help you and your brands reduce risks and maximize your return on investment in the Chinese market.
