Intertek Taiwan Took the Lead in Promoting REACH Registration on “REACH OR Forum”

REACH regulation came into force across the EU on 1 June 2007 and was enacted to ensure that chemicals in the EU market are fully tested and  used safely. Since Taiwan is one of the largest manufacturing sites for various products, Intertek Taiwan understands the impact of regulations regarding local manufacturers, especially in the chemical industry. As a result, the “2009 REACH OR Forum” on 7 January 2010 in Taipei was organized. The aim of this forum was to encourage the vendors in Taiwan’s chemical industry to prepare for REACH compliance minimizing the risk of compliance failures.

This full day forum received a positive response from the participants of the Taiwan chemical industry, including representatives from the leading enterprise in Taiwan petrochemical industry. During the forum, we delivered useful and updated information on REACH regulation, including the global status of REACH, enforcement of REACH in the EU, updates from the Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF) and the discrepancy between various consortia. We also specified REACH related document requirements and emphasized relevant tasks for non-EU companies/manufacturers.
