In 2014, the European Parliament and Council enacted new directives for low voltage (LV) with the LVD Directive 2014/35/EU, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2014/30/EU, and Radio and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive 2014/53/EU. With these new directives going into effect later this year, compliance dates have been established for products coming onto the market.
For products within the previous LVD/EMC that will continue to be within the new LVD/EMC (even after the applicability of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), the dates of conformity are as follows:
Products within R&TTE that remain within the scope of RED:
Products within Old/New LVD/EMC which fall within RED (after applicability of RED), e.g. TV and Sound Broadcasting Receivers:
Products within R&TTE and then outside the scope of RED, e.g. Terminal Equipment:
Products placed on the market after June 12, 2016: RED is not applicable: New LVD/EMC. If applicable to the product in question (e.g. if the equipment is outside the voltage range specified in LVD, LVD is not applicable, but the General Product Safety Directive could be applicable provided that the equipment is a consumer product.)
