Intertek Hong Kong Participated AFIRM Seminar

The Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management Working Group (AFIRM) Restricted Substances List (RSL) Seminar was held on 31   March 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

In 2004, a group of companies began sharing product information and experiences in chemistry, safety, regulatory testing within the apparel and footwear industry. Ultimately striving to share best practices in RSL management, information and experiences. These companies formed the Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management (AFIRM) Working Group. Their mission is to reduce the use and impact of harmful substances in the apparel and footwear supply chain. To learn more about the Working Group, please visit http://www.afirm-group.com/

For the seminar there were over 200 participants comprised of key players along the production chain, such as the major buyers, raw material suppliers, vendors and the testing companies. There were a series of seminars about the legislation for RSL, including a case study, how to set up a management system for RSL and sustainable development for the supply chain. As a result, participants have greatly deepened their knowledge in RSL and other relevant areas.
