Intertek Supports CSR Excellence as an Official Global Reporting Initiative Trainer

This month, Intertek, a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions for a wide range of industries, has become a certified Global Reporting Initiative Training (GRI) Partner in Chinese speaking countries. Through the partnership, Intertek will offer certified trainings on the GRI’s reporting framework in mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore beginning in the second quarter of 2010.  

The GRI is the leading framework on corporate sustainability reporting and has been instrumental in promoting transparency and corporate social responsibility worldwide. Over 1,000 companies and organizations worldwide use the GRI to guide their sustainability reporting. The GRI reporting principles, indicators and sector supplements provide reporting guidance and best practices to meet the reporting needs of a wide range of industries.

Corporate sustainability reporting has become an increasingly important part of business in China with a tenfold increases in reporting over the past three years. More Chinese companies are developing CSR reports than ever before and many international companies are publishing stand-alone CSR reports on their China business. Intertek joins a few select CSR providers in becoming a GRI partner in China.

Intertek’s GRI training will include the basics of sustainability reporting, how to implement the GRI principles, drafting a quality report, global best practices as well as case studies from China. Participants will leave the training with a solid understanding of GRI reporting in a Chinese context and have the tools to implement the GRI framework in their own report.
