Intertek Opens New Furniture Testing Laboratory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

In response to ever increasing local and global consumer demand for high quality furniture from Asia Pacific, Intertek, a leading provider in quality and safety services worldwide, is opening of a new state-of-the-art furniture (hardlines) laboratory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in July 2009.
Different tests, assessment and inspection services are necessary to evaluate the physical characteristics, construction properties, performance and labeling of furniture in accordance with the standards such as such as ASTM, ANSI, BIFMA, BS, EN and ISO standards. Intertek’s Ho Chi Minh City laboratory is able to provide these services and more with the aid of analytical and reporting systems that provide the most accurate and timely data with the expertise and professionalism of our staff. 
Intertek evaluates the performance of furniture like chairs, stools, high chairs, beds, tables, sofas, shelves, and children’s furniture by executing a variety of performance testing which include Strength Tests, Stability Tests, Back-pull, Base and Impact Durability Test (Chair), as well as Seat-back Fatigue Test (Chair).
Intertek can conduct the chemical and physical tests needed to test the content of hazardous substances and moisture in furniture that are harmful to humans and to test its durability. Those chemical and physical tests include:
- Formaldehyde Content
- Total Lead Content (Pb)
- Mold Count
- Moisture Content (Wood)
- Abrasion Resistance
- Colorfastness
- Tear Strength
