Recently André Lacroix, CEO of Intertek Group plc, visited Beijing and met with leaders of government bodies and industry associations to discuss Intertek’s continued support of Chinese manufacturers to align their products and supply chains with industry standards, meet consumers’ needs for safety and quality, and strengthen product quality for international and domestic trade.
Intertek Korea recently celebrated the grand opening of a new office in Gunpo, South Korea. The facility will feature a 10-m electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) chamber, along with additional chambers for testing of electrical and wireless products. This expansion will strengthen Intertek’s capabilities for its electrical and wireless clients, offering testing solutions for the EU and US markets.
In order to assist the manufacturers of hoverboards and similar devices with the design and production of their products, Intertek is now offering wide-ranging solutions including physical property testing, chemical testing, battery testing, and software and mechanical evaluations. Additionally, Intertek has launched an educational program to provide insight to the industry on the global market access requirements for self-balancing scooters.
In effort to address the challenges faced by the consumer products industry, Intertek and global law firm Hogan Lovells held the joint event Safe products: foreseeable use in today's marketplace. The event offered insight into the usage and risks of products, as well as the responsibility to consumer safety.
Intertek Hong Kong recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) for the accreditation of the “Delivery Service for Lab Test” Scheme for food products. Under this scheme, Intertek Hong Kong is now an authorized testing laboratory for food products.
Intertek Mexico City has now been granted the designation of becoming a notified body authorized to test and certify low voltage electrical products to the G Mark Scheme. With this accreditation, Mexico City becomes the ninth Intertek lab authorized under the G Mark scheme, further expanding Intertek’s ability to meet client’s needs throughout the globe.
The annual meeting for the joint partnership between Intertek and LG Electronics was held at the new Intertek Korea headquarters building May 17-18. The event was attended by more than 20 LG managers from both the US and Korea, respectively representing all LG Electronic business lines: Home Appliance, Mobile Device, Air Conditioning, Product Testing Center, Vehicle Components, Energy Storage and Home Electronics.
On June 13, 2016, the Radio equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (RTTED) will be repealed and the new Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU will come into law. In the updated directive, Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (TT) is removed while Wired Telephone, Fax Machine, Radio Equipment, EMCD and LVD must comply with the requirement.

From June 22-24, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi will play host to Heimtextil India 2016. The event features exhibitors from across the globe and serves as a platform to bring together distributors, retailers, wholesalers and others to showcase the latest in home and contract textiles.
