After extensive renovation and expansion, Intertek has officially opened the UK’s largest textile testing laboratory at Intertek Leigh. This facility will offer textile manufacturers and retailers testing, inspection, performance assurance and certification services including fire analysis, chemical testing and flammability.
To assist apparel and footwear manufacturers in meeting the growing demands of their customers, Intertek has developed comprehensive performance tests for fitness apparel and footwear worn in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.
Intertek has announced the approval of laboratories in Brazil, the U.S., U.K., Germany and Sweden as notified bodies to test and certify low-voltage electrical products for the Gulf mark (G mark) scheme. This approval allows Intertek to greater localize its services to clients looking to enter the Gulf market.
New decrees from the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade in Egypt are introducing significant changes to the expanded list of regulated products and the import clearance procedure. Under these new standards, registration of licensed factories and a certificate of inspection are mandatory for all regulated products exported to Egypt.
New technical regulations from the Saudi Standards and Quality Organization (SASO), in coordination with the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) will be enforced on imported and locally manufactured products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia beginning May 1, 2016.
To promote the best practices in product safety, Intertek partnered with UK safety Charity Electrical Safety First to conduct the ‘Safety in Mind – the non-standard approach’ seminar. The program included discussion of the importance of the ‘right the first time’ approach to product safety and the need for products to comply with safety standards before they reach the market.

Intertek's experts on comprehensive quality solutions for premiums exhibited at the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, the world’s largest fair of its kind, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre April 27-30. Co-organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, the fair attracted more than 4,200 exhibitors from 33 countries and regions during the four-day event.
