Bedding Articles

In February, the Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee and the Shanghai, Henan and Guangdong Province Municipal Administrations for Industry and Commerce launched a province-wide special product quality supervision, inspection and comparative experiment for bedding articles.

This spot check was conducted according to GB 5296.4-2012 "Instruction for use of products of consumer interest," GB 18401 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB 18383-2007 "General technical requirements for products with filling materials," GB/T 22796-2009 "Quilts, quilt cover," GB/T 22797-2009 "Sheet," GB/T 22864-2009 "Towel," GB/T 22843-2009 "Cushion and pillow" and GB/T 24252-2009 "Silk quilts." The key items inspected on these samples were formaldehyde, pH value, presence of odor, banned Azo dyestuff, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration and fiber content.

As a result of the inspection of 120 batches in the Henan Province, 9 batches failed.

Of the 100 batches in Guangdong Province, 16 batches failed. Among 30 batches in Shanghai, 3 batched failed. In addition, Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee inspected 30 batches and 6 batches failed.

Primary failed items: fiber content, using instruction and formaldehyde.

Children’s Wear

In February, the Henan Province Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for children’s wear.

This spot check was conducted according to GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB/T 8878-2014 "Knitted cotton underwear" and FZ/T 73025-2013 "National general safety technical code for textile products."

The key items inspected on these samples were fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, colorfastness to dry rubbing, colorfastness to wet rubbing, colorfastness to water, banned Azo dyestuff, colorfastness to saliva, colorfastness to perspiration and colorfastness to washing.

The spot check inspected a total of 50 batches and 6 batches failed.

Primary failed items: fiber content and colorfastness.

Casual Wear

In February, the Hefei AIC, Shanghai and Zhejiang and Guangdong Province Municipal Administrations for Industry and Commerce launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for casual wear.

This spot check was conducted according to GB 5296.4-2012 "Instruction for use of products of consumer interest," GB/T 29862-2103 "Identification of fiber content," GB/T 14272-2011 "Down garments," GB/T 73005 "Low wool content and wool like knitted goods," GB/T 73009-1997 "Cashmere knitted goods," GB/T 73018-2012 "Wool knitted goods" and GB/T 73034-2009 "Semi-worsted wool knitted goods."

The key items inspected on these samples were label, fiber content,formaldehyde, pH value, banned Azo dyestuff, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to washing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to light, down content and filling weight.

The spot check in the Zhejiang and Guangdong Provinces inspected a total of 110 batches and 15 batches failed. Shanghai inspected 41 batches of down garments and 1 batch failed, as well as knitted woolen garments where 35 batches and 4 batches failed.

Primary failed items: formaldehyde, fiber content and labelling.

Footwear

In February, the Guangzhou city Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for footwear.

This spot check was conducted according to GB/T 15107-2013 "Athletic Shoes." The key items inspected on these samples were sole loading, whole shoe flexing, sole abrasion, sole bond (outsole and midsole), cold flex resistance, colorfastness to rubbing, formaldehyde and banned Azo dyestuff.

The spot check identified 9 failed batches of the total 50 batches checked.

The failed items of this spot check were whole shoe flexing and colorfastness of lining.
