Results of China Market Textile and Footwear Spot Checks in June 2014

Children’s Apparel

The Market Supervision Administration of Shenzhen Municipality launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for children’s apparel. The spot check inspected 65 batches of samples; 14 batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB 5296.4-1998 "Instructions for use of products of consumer interest - Part 4: Textiles and apparel" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to dry rubbing, label and fiber content.

Primary failed items: pH value, fiber content, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration and label.

Infant Apparel

The Market Supervision Administration of Shenzhen Municipality launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for infant apparel. The spot check inspected 25 batches of samples; 4 batches were found unqualified.

GB 5296.4-1998 "Instructions for use of products of consumer interest - Part 4: Textiles and apparel" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to saliva, label and fiber content.

Primary failed items: pH value and fiber content.  

Infant Apparel and Bedding

The Qingdao Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for infant apparel and bedding. The spot check inspected 3 batches of samples; no batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products," FZ/T 73025-2006 "Knitted garment and adornment for infant" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to saliva, colorfastness to washing and seam strength.

Children’s Apparel (2)

The Qingdao Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for children’s apparel. The spot check inspected 38 batches of samples; 3 batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB/T 8878-2009 "Cotton knitted underwear," FZ/T 73024-2006 "Knitted underwear in chemical fibers," FZ/T 73025-2006 "Knitted garment and adornment for infant," FZ/T 81003-2003 "Children's clothing and student's wear" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to washing and colorfastness to saliva.

Primary failed items: fiber content.

Towels

The Qingdao Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for towels. The spot check inspected 9 batches of samples; no batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB/T 22864-2009 "Towel" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to washing and colorfastness to saliva.

Women’s Undergarments

The Qingdao Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for women’s undergarments. The spot check inspected 4 batches of samples; no batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 18401-2010 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB/T 8878-2009 "Cotton knitted underwear" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were fiber content, formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to washing.

Children’s Footwear

The Zhejiang Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for children’s footwear. The spot check inspected 50 batches of samples; 17 batched were found unqualified.

Primary failed items: chromium VI content, free formaldehyde, abrasion resistance, label, appearance, upper pull out strength and colorfastness to rubbing of insole.

Children’s Footwear (2)

The Shaanxi Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for children’s footwear. The spot check inspected 30 batches of samples; 7 batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB/T 2880-2007 "Children's leather shoes," GB/T 15107-2005 "Athletic footwear," GB/T 22756-2008 "Leather sandals" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were flexing resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesion of midsole and outsole, outsole hardness, colorfastness to rubbing, heel hardness and upper pull out strength.

Primary failed items: abrasion resistance.

Infant and Children’s Apparel

The Shaanxi Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for infant and children’s apparel.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards FZ/T 73025-2006 "Knitted garment and adornment for infant," FZ/T 81014-2008 "Infant's wear," FZ/T 81003-2003 "Children's clothing and student's wear" colorfastness to dry rubbing, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to washing, colorfastness to saliva, color-fastness to light, formaldehyde, pH value, AZO, fiber content and seam strength.

Leather Shoes & Handbags

The Hubei Administration for Industry & Commerce launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for leather shoes and handbags. 12 batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 28011-2011 "Shanks for footwear," QB/T 1002-2005" Leather shoes," QB/T 1333-2010 "Handbag and knapsack" and related standards. The key items inspected on leather shoes were longitudinal stiffness, hardness, bending performance, peeling strength. The key items inspected on handbags were appearance, label, shock impact strength.

Primary failed items: (1) leather shoes: longitudinal stiffness, hardness, peeling strength of upper and sole, bending performance, peeling strength and abrasion resistance; (2) handbags: appearance, label, shock impact strength.

Apparel, Bedding, Jeanswear, Footwear

The Jilin Administration for Industry & Commerce launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for apparel, bedding, jeanswear and footwear. The spot check inspected 170 batches of samples; 110 batches were found unqualified.

This spot check was conducted according to the standards GB 18401 "National general safety technical code for textile products," GB 5296.4 "Instructions for use of products of consumer interest - Part 4: Textiles and apparel" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were label, fiber content, colorfastness and pH value..

Primary failed items: label, fiber content, colorfastness and pH value.

Children’s Apparel and Footwear

The Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce launched a special product quality supervision and inspection for children’s apparel and footwear. 37 batches of children’s apparel were found unqualified; 8 batches of children’s footwear were found unqualified.

Children’s apparel: The key items inspected on these samples were label, fiber content, colorfastness, pH value, formaldehyde, AZO and odor. Primary failed items: colorfastness, fiber content and label.

Children’s footwear: This spot check was conducted according to the standards QB/T 2880 "Children's leather shoes," QB/T 4331 "Children’s athletic shoes" and related standards. The key items inspected on these samples were label, appearance, peeling strength, abrasion resistance of outsole, flexing resistance, outsole hardness, colorfastness to rubbing of lining and insole, odor, free formaldehyde, Cr(Ⅵ), AZO, heavy metals and etc. Primary failed items: label, appearance, flexing resistance and abrasion resistance.
