Intertek offers product safety studies with a variety of methods to confirm the safety of your hair care product during and after development. Intertek 4-Front has a wealth of experience in safety evaluations.
Scalp Studies
Intertek 4-Front’s access to Dermatologists and Tricologists allows for provision of expert assessments of the tolerability of your hair care product to the scalp. Assessments can be made for the following parameters:
- Expert clinical assessment of the scalp for erythema, dryness, papules, excoriations, etc.
- Controlled, reproducible photography via, for example, the Canfield EpiFlash for image capture and analysis
- Biox Aquaflux for skin/scalp barrier function investigation
Ocular Irritation Tests
Intertek 4-Front can offer the direct instillation technique for supporting this claim in shampoos & bath products, which evaluates the comparative eye irritation potential of the test formulation against a benchmark product. Products are applied around or directly into the eyes, under the supervision of Ophthalmologist. Assessments can be made for the following parameters:
- Lacrimation
- Bulbar conjunctival
- Palpebral conjunctival irritation
- Subjective stinging assessments
In-vitro Hair Tests
Intertek offers additional in-vitro and analytical services to assist with your hair care product safety testing:
- Product / substrate interaction
- Hair sample biological analysis (e.g. Scanning Electron Microscopy)
- Hair sample chemical analysis (ICP: Zinc, Copper, etc.)
