Informatics Services for Automated Processing and Analysis of Data.

Data Automation tools and techniques can be applied to data from multiple disparate sources, both scientific and non-scientific, to enhance data throughput, ensure greater data consistency, simplify repetitive tasks and increase user productivity.

Data Automation offerings available from Intertek include:

  • Excel Macros - analysis, design and creation of specific scripts and tools aimed at simplifying repetitive tasks, and ensuring greater data consistency, through validation, when working in Microsoft Excel. Solutions can range from single step macros through to complete Excel customisation.
  • Bespoke Applications - we have experience in writing standalone programs in multiple languages for working with data. Tasks requiring such programs include but are not limited to file format conversion, data aggregation from multiple sources and the upload of data into databases.
  • Database Tools - the real value in data is only usually released through some sort of augmentation, analysis and processing. When the data source is a database, a number of database tools can be used to achieve this. These tools include the authoring of database views, the generation of calculated fields, simple or complex string processing, the writing of stored procedures to carry out multi-step and logic-based tasks, and pivoting to change the format and layout of the data.
  • Workflow Management - tools are available which allow a workflow, consisting of multiple pre-existing or bespoke elements, to be designed in a graphical environment. Such workflows can be used to obtain data from multiple disparate sources and perform any number of processing steps before exporting or displaying the results. This process is known as data pipelining and the workflow design or protocol is completely reusable and can be applied to multiple data sets with little or no modification.
