Differentiate yourself and limit your customers' liability
Through Intertek’s Fire Door Inspector program, you can be third-party certified to perform inspections to ensure that fire and egress door assemblies are compliant with NFPA 80 and NFPA 101.
The Fire Door Inspector Program is part of Intertek’s Qualified Personnel (IQP) Program and is designed to bring peace of mind to AHJs. By joining the program, you are electing to go above and beyond industry requirements by choosing to participate in a program with more stringent checks and balances, therefore making yourself a trusted installer to AHJs.
A Perfect Partnership
Intertek partners with the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) to ensure the highest level of training and education is received. Upon the successful completion of DHI’s Fire and Egress Door Assembly Inspection (FDAI) Program, an inspector is then eligible to take additional steps and become certified through Intertek.
Becoming an IQP - Fire Door Inspector There are two options for completing DHI's DAI 600 course: a four day, in-person course or an online course spread out over 12 meetings in 2-3 hour blocks of time.
After completion of the course and receiving a successful passing score on the exam (80% or higher), individuals and their companies then become eligible to become certified through Intertek. Once certified, inspectors must participate in on-going education and re-certification every three years in addition to having their companies audited for quality and assurance.
