Aqueous GPC determines molecular weight distributions of water-soluble polymers.

Intertek has augmented in-house GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography) capabilities for the analysis of water-soluble polymers. This GPC system complements the previous capability for room-temperature solvent-based analysis and high-temperature GPC analysis of polyolefinic materials.

The GPC system is equipped with a refractive index detector. For aqueous GPC work it will normally be used for conventional calibration.

The system is applied to the measurement of molecular weights in the range 500-1million Daltons (PEO/PEG equivalent) and provides molecular weight distributions, Mw, Mn and Mz values.

Aqueous gel chromatography analysis of polymers:

  • Polyvinyl alcohol
  • Polysaccharide oligomers
  • Water-soluble higher polysaccharides
  • Hydroxymethyl cellulose
  • Polyvinylpyrrolidone
  • Polyacrylamide
  • Polyacrylic acid
  • Hyaluronic acid

These measurements may be provided under ISO 17025 accreditation.
