Aqueous Gel Permeation Chromatography
Aqueous GPC determines molecular weight distributions of water-soluble polymers.
Intertek has augmented in-house GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography) capabilities for the analysis of water-soluble polymers. The new GPC system complements the previous capability for room-temperature solvent-based analysis and high-temperature GPC analysis of polyolefinic materials.
The GPC system is from Malvern Instruments, and is equipped with a triple detector array. For aqueous GPC work, it will normally be used in conventional calibration mode, with refractive index or evaporative light scattering detection as the mass detectors.
The system is applied to the measurement of molecular weights in the range 500-10,000 Daltons (PEO/PEG equivalent), and provide molecular weight distributions, Mw, Mn and Mz values.
Aqueous gel chromatography analysis of polymers:
- Polyvinyl alcohol
- Polysaccharide oligomers
- Water-soluble higher polysaccharides
- Hydroxymethyl cellulose
- Polyvinylpyrrolidone
- Polyacrylamide
- Polyacrylic acid
- Hyaluronic acid
These measurements may be provided under ISO17025 accreditation.
